We stock and install CWS-compatible window installation parts across Jacksonville, with most replacement parts running $85 to $240 installed and most full component swaps completed in a single visit. A failed CWS part usually shows up as a window that won’t lock, a sash that drags, or a corner that leaks during a summer downpour. If you’ve noticed water staining on the drywall below a window, a gap at the meeting rail, or a crank that spins without moving the sash, the fix is almost always a specific CWS component rather than a whole new window.
We’re an independent Jacksonville window service company, not affiliated with CWS, and we carry CWS-compatible hardware and installation components alongside parts for PGT, CGI, and ES Windows. Keith Yamada and our crew have been matching CWS parts to Jacksonville homes for years, and we keep the most common failure points on the truck.
Which CWS Models This Applies To
CWS builds window systems across several series lines, and the part you need depends on which series your windows came from. The most common CWS lines we service in Jacksonville are the 9000 Series (single-hung and horizontal roller), the 7000 Series impact-rated units, and the 5000 Series builder-grade windows that went into a lot of the newer subdivisions around Town Center and Bartram Park. Each series uses different balance systems, different roller housings, and different weatherstripping profiles, which is why a part that fits a 9000 Series won’t necessarily fit a 7000 Series even if the window size is identical.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners hit: CWS rollers and balances are stamped with a series code on the metal or plastic housing. Look for a number stamped into the roller wheel bracket or etched on the balance shoe. If the stamp is worn off, the window’s overall dimensions and the width of the frame channel are usually enough for us to identify the series. When OEM CWS parts are backordered or discontinued, we install quality aftermarket equivalents that match the series spec, and we tell you which you’re getting and why before we order anything. Our professional recommendation: if the window is under 10 years old, OEM makes sense. If it’s older and the part has already failed once, a quality aftermarket component often outlasts the original.

Signs Your CWS Window Installation Is Failing
- The sash drops when you close it or won’t stay up. This is almost always a failed balance spring or balance shoe. CWS single-hungs use a side-load balance system, and when the spring loses tension, the sash gets heavy and unpredictable.
- Water collects in the track after rain. Jacksonville’s summer storms push water against windows sideways. If the weep holes in a CWS frame are clogged or the track seal has pulled away, water backs up into the house instead of draining out.
- The window crank turns but the sash barely moves. On CWS casement and awning units, this points to a worn gearbox inside the operator or a bent linkage arm. Continuing to crank it makes the gear teeth worse.
- You can hear air moving around the window on a windy day. Weatherstripping on CWS frames compresses over time, especially on the south-facing side of a home where the heat hits it all day. A draft usually means the seal strip has flattened or the corner gaskets have shrunk.
- The lock won’t engage or the sash won’t seat flush. This can be a shifted frame, a bent keeper, or a roller out of adjustment. In older Jacksonville homes near the river, frames settle and the striker alignment drifts.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Jacksonville, most CWS window installation part replacements run between $85 and $240 installed per window, depending on the part. A single balance replacement typically lands in the $85 to $140 range. A roller swap runs $95 to $160. A complete track rebuild or operator replacement can reach $180 to $240 when both sides need work. The price you get from us is the price on your invoice – we write it before the work starts, and it covers the part, the trip, the labor, and cleanup.
Every CWS window installation repair we do in Jacksonville includes the same things: shoe covers and drop cloths before we set up, a written price before we touch a window, and a photo of the cleaned-up work area before we leave. Keith grew up in Los Angeles and studied glazing systems at LA Trade-Technical College, and that training shows in how carefully we match parts and how thoroughly we test the window after the swap. If the part fails again within 365 days, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means we return and make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. A homeowner can absolutely check the weep holes, clean the track, and look for a stamped part code before calling us. Those are safe, useful steps that help us identify what’s needed. What we don’t recommend is prying out a balance spring, forcing a locked sash, or disassembling a crank operator without the right tools. CWS balance systems hold tension, and when one lets go it can take a chunk of the frame or a finger with it. The same goes for impact-rated CWS 7000 Series units – those frames are engineered as a system, and a wrong part undermines the impact rating you paid for.
If the window is fighting you, stop and call (904) 914-3691. We’ll identify the part, give you a written price, and get you on the schedule. Most CWS part replacements in Jacksonville are a one-visit job for us.
FAQs
In Jacksonville’s heat, humidity, and salt air, most CWS window hardware lasts 8 to 15 years before something starts to fail. Rollers and weatherstripping usually go first; balance springs and operators last longer if the window is operated gently. Windows facing the river or the coast tend to fail on the shorter end of that range.
Sometimes. A roller that’s simply out of adjustment can be tuned, and a track that’s clogged can be cleaned and resealed. But a balance spring that has lost tension or a crank gear that’s stripped needs to be replaced – there’s no real repair for those. Call (904) 914-3691 and we’ll tell you which situation you have before quoting anything.
Most single-part replacements take 45 to 90 minutes from setup to cleanup. A full balance replacement on a large single-hung might take a little longer if the frame needs shimming. We’ll tell you the expected time when we schedule the visit.
We keep the most common CWS balances, rollers, and weatherstripping for the 5000 and 9000 series on the truck, so a lot of Jacksonville repairs happen same-visit. If your window needs a less common part, we order it and keep you posted on the timeline. Call us with the part code you found if you have it – that speeds everything up.
